Free Ipod Nano

With all this Free iPod mania that is happening, it is becoming more apparent that there is a lack of tools to help monitor your current status throughout the processes. ICFreePod is a program similar to PodWatch which sits in the "system tray" near the clock and monitors the status of your account with the site. It checks the Status page at an interval you set, and then notifies you whenever something changes by flashing the icon near the system clock. You can right-click on the iPod icon to get more options.

ICFreePod is written in C# and requires the .NET Framework version 1.1 installed in order for it to run correctly. You can download the .NET Framework either through Windows Update or you can go to this link to download it.

In case some of you haven't noticed yet, I've been working hard on making the MyStatus a little bit cooler... and I've succeded.

I have now made MyStatus generate IMAGES! That's right.. you can now put your status in your forum signatures and on your website rather than using the javascript previously provided. Feel free to continue using the javascript if you would like, but this is an alternative solution for those who can't use javascript to display their status (ie: forum signatures).

All I ask for using this service is that you link the image to the ICFreePod page here ( along with the image. And please do not abuse the service. If I see that my servers are taking too much strain or that the service is being abused, I will either revoke the accounts responsible, or I will shut the service off completely. Please play nice (as most have you have already done).

To use the ICFreePod Image signature on phpBB or other BBCode accepting forums, simply paste the following into your signature:
[url=] [img]<youruserid>.png[/img] [/url]
To use the signature on a normal HTML-based page, you can simply use the following:
<a href=""> <img src="<youruserid>.png" border="0" alt="ICFreePod" /> </a> ICFreePod
Thank you for using ICFreePod and allowing it to be sucessful. ~D~ Drakier

As you could probably tell from the lack of recent news, there isn't a whole lot happening with ICFreePod right now.

Work and school have pretty much kept me busy (and my work on Decal).

I have some things I want to add/change about ICFreePod, but I have had a complete lack of cooperation from FreePay on getting anything done. I can't make changes to ICFreePod without FreePay making some changes to their WebService. Unfortunately, my contact who used to help me with those sorts of requests got a promotion, which means he's now super busy doing other things, and has absolutely no time to assist with WebService requests. So until the Webservice stuff gets fixed, I'm mostly at a standstill. I have a version with some modifications which I plan on releasing in a little while, but it doesn't really have any new features or FreePay offerings. It's just a modification on what is already available.

Stay tuned to this space for future changes and announcements... just don't hold your breath waiting. I wouldn't want to be responsible for that kind of accident. *grins*

Looks like I've been out of the loop for a while. Gratis has changed their Free*.com stuff over to Meaning all sites are now operated under the domain with the offer being at the first of the URL.. such as or Along with these changes, they've also added a new offer for the New Ipod Nanos! So I'll be making all these changes to ICFreePod soon, and hopefully by the time I'm done, the Webservice will have the new site in it as well as a couple other minor changes. Also.. because of this change, I'm going to have to update the MyStatus page and I'll actually be changing ALL the function names for the sites.. so if one day your MyStatus isn't working and you're wondering why? That is why. I'll post again right before I make the change, and once again right after the change with the new information. Hopefully it will go all smoothly and there will not be any issues. Thanks for using ICFreePod and I'll try to get everything "up to date" as quickly as possible.

If you see this news article, congratulations! You're on the new server. As I said yesterday, if you experience any wierd issues, please email me! I need to get all the issues resolved ASAP.

Getting some new hosting, so all my services are being re-located. Hopefully this relocation will be as smooth and seamless as possible, but there may be some wierdness until the DNS and everything are moved over. If there are any issues, or you notice anything that doesn't look right, please contact me at the email address on this page.

Users who decide to use the MyStatus and display it on their pages, please keep in mind I'm providing this service free of charge. With that, I do have a couple of thing I want to emphasize. The "MyStatus" text and the ICFreePod link (text or icon) should be included at least once on the MyStatus page as a form of branding. I don't mind if you remove it from the majority of the boxes as I have done on my main page above, but please leave at lease one instance. It is my way of getting links and traffic to my site while providing you with this service. As I said, I understand not wanting to have it on all of the boxes (especially if you display a lot of them) but I just request that you leave at least one instance of both the text and the link on your site. Thank you.

Gratis added the site to their webservice. I have also added this site to ICFreePod. You'll notice a little re-arranging in the menu to make room for more options. Hopefully this will be a good sign of things to come. Also in this version is the public version of MyStatus. As explained in the Readme.txt file, I'm providing this MyStatus service using my own resources. As such, I request that users please not abuse this and please be aware that this is using my resources. Any form of abuse will mean the removal of at minimum your account, and at maximum, the removal of the service to the public. Please be courteous to me and other users and don't spoil it for everyone. Have fun with version 0.1.8.

Gratis finally fixed the webservice so ICFreePod should now work. I'm also very close to releasing a new version of ICFreePod that has MyStatus built in and available for anyone able to run JavaScript. I've converted the old MyStatus code over so its all stored in a local database on my servers, and you just upload your stats, then reference the javascript and you can display it on geocities or any other .html page without ASP or PHP. I'm still debating about the release of this though as it is very prone to abuse, and I'm not sure how my servers will be able to handle it. I guess it depends on the demand for it.. I'll create a new poll in the forums and people can vote on it. Have fun ICFreePod'in and as always, let me know if there are any issues on my support forums.

Gratis was finally able to add the webservices for their FreePSPs and their FreeDigitalCameras. I've added them to ICFreePod and have made it available for you to download in verion 0.1.7. Let me know if there are any issues with this build. You can report problems and get support on my forums which are linked on the left side of the page.

Some good news for all you OfferCentric fanatics.. I've finally recieved some contact from OfferCentric about their services. Seems they are planning on implementing something fairly similarly to Gratis in the form of easy to access XML data for users. This means that once they are finished, I will be able to add all of the OfferCentric sites to ICFreePod, and ICFreePod will work with both Gratis and OfferCentric sites! I know many of you have been waiting forever for this, and it looks like its about to happen. Stay tuned for more information as I get it, but it looks to be a good start.

Monday, 1/24/2005
Seems that while fixing the "Sticky Popup" bug, I also introduced another bug which causes ICFreePod to "hang" open even of the computer tells it to go away. This means that if you try to shutdown or reboot your computer with ICFreePod open, it won't work. Well.. I've hopefully fixed that so that if you shutdown or reboot, ICFreePod will go away like it is supposed to.

Thursday, 1/20/2005
Gratis finally got the webservice for FreeMiniMacs and FreeIpodShuffle online, so I am releasing ICFreePod version 0.1.5. It contains the two new Gratis sites as well as a bug fix to finally squish the "popup window getting stuck" problem. As explained in the readme file, if you still experience this problem, please go to my support forums and post the problem as well as any information which could be helpful to diagnosing the problem. Such information includes what you were doing at the time, how long ICFreePod had been running, etc.

Monday, 1/17/2005
I'm waiting on Gratis to publish the two new Gratis sites into their WebService before I release my next version of ICFreePod which will have freeipodshuffle and freeminimacs added to its list of supported services. Please stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Gratis fixed their webservice problem, as well as the bug in the site so that it should now work properly with ICFreePod. So I've uploaded 0.1.4 for users to download! Enjoy!

Wednesday, 12/8/2004
Added the service to ICFreePod. Also rearranged the XML to look better and allow for possibly more flexibility in the future. This XML change will allow me to possibly add more sites in the future like OfferCentric and other similar sites. Please report any problems to my forums so that if there are any bugs, I can get them fixed as soon as possible.

Monday, 11/8/2004
Finally added the latest 2 Gratis Services to ICFreePod. ICFreePod now supports,,,, and As usual, please report any issues with the program to my Support Forums and we'll try to get it fixed up as soon as possible.

0.1.1 has just been released. Check the readme for all of the details, but this release basically just fixes a couple of bugs in the performance of ICFreePod. Still more bug fixes to come.

Thursday, 10/14/2004
0.1.0 seems to be mostly stable now, so I'm going to release it in hopes of someone else being able to find a problem with it. If you find something, please report it on my forums which are linked to the left. Information about this release can be found in the readme. Mainly, I just added the WebService and 2 more Gratis sites. I know I'm still missing FreeHandBags, but I'm not quite sure yet what I'm going to do about it

Monday, 10/4/2004
I've almost finished working on the latest version of ICFreePod. It now uses the Gratis webservice to collect its information, so it can check 3 different Gratis sites now. It currently checks freeipods, freeflatscreens, and freedesktoppc. If there are any I am missing, let me know. For now, I want to test this version and get it stable enough to release as a beta, because currently, there are still a couple things that don't work right, and aren't up to my expectation of good software. There are also a couple of things I want to re-code to make it easier to update in the future. But for now, I've made great improvement.

Tuesday, 9/14/2004
I know it has been a while since update, but I've been working on features (and just working in general) and now that I'm going back to school, I have less time to actually program.. but still.. I'm working on some cool new stuff. I'm working on a couple feature requests at the moment. I'm adding a little "Taskbar Notification" like you would see with AIM or other programs like that. I'm also considering adding the other Gratis Offers to my program. If I do that right now however, it is going to take me longer to actually get a real version out, especially if I do not wait until the Gratis Webservice is done. Either way, Hopefully I'll have something VERY soon for you.

Wednesday, 8/18/2004
Fixed a couple minor bug with the HTML. Also am working on making ICFreePod be able to send data to a URL to display on a Webpage. If you have a WebServer and can use php or asp includes, then eventually (possibly) you'll be able to configure ICFreePod to send its stats to your site to be displayed in Real-Time on your site (like the example you see on the left hand column). More on this to come as I figure out what to do with it.

Tuesday, 8/17/2004
Fixed a couple of bugs that were happening on "Error" pages, and hopefully now, it will be a little more graceful about not encountering those problems. That is really all I changed with this update. Hopefully more to come very soon. I have a couple more features I still would like to add/change. I also added an Order Status page, and fixed a bug which would cause the "Show Referrals" not to enable even if you had referrals under you. Hopefully both work ok, but they'll need more testing from other people's accounts.

Friday, 8/13/2004
Finished up the HTML Parsing and am now able to display the Referrals and their status directly in ICFreePod. You can access this screen by right-clicking the icon and clicking on the Show Referrals option in the menu. It should produce a list with the referrals in the order they appear in the page that you can get at If you want to sort the list you can just click the header of the column and it will sort the list by that column. If you click the same column again, it will sort in reverse order. I also moved a lot of the code around and modularized it a little more. Also removed the need to load the form unless you tell it to. So hopefully that should get rid of any issues.

Thursday, 8/12/2004
Fixed a couple more "potential" issues that generally shouldn't come up, but its better to be safe than sorry. I'm also attempting to work on a screen that will look almost identical to the ReferralStatus screen and will list the referrals as well as their status. Unfortunately, the HTML is a little difficult to work with so this might take me a little longer to get something worked out nicely. For now, here is the latest version though, so let me know if there are any issues!

Wednesday, 8/11/2004
Uploaded a new version.. 0.0.2 (Beta). This one has a couple new things. Still adding more to it every day. This version has a variable Interval which you can specify on the Options screen (where you enter your email/password). Also fixed a couple of the options to work better, and added a "Check Now" option which will check the site immediately rather than waiting for the timer to elapse.

Tuesday, 8/10/2004
This site is relatively new, and will be for the new ICFreePod program I am creating. ICFreePod is a program similar to PodWatch that monitors your Free iPod status from the site. I should have a Beta ready for download REALLY soon (as soon as I can get some graphics made), so stay tuned for more information and download links to come.

ICFreePod is an excellent application!

A thousand times better than PodWatch! With PodWatch, I was getting really sick of logging in though the web browser so often, and confirming that, yes, I really do want to close you PodWatch, I'm logging out now and you have to go away along with the rest of the applications, it's nothing personal but I hate you and your "Are you sure..." dialog box, you stupid, malignant piece of code!

But I have no such feelings towards ICFreePod. ;-) Being able to see the actual text of my order status is pretty neat!

Thanks for working on this!
-John S.

Just wanted to thank you for an excellent app! No useless features, and tells me everything I need to know - GREAT code.

I whole-heartedly recommend the product, and you can quote me on that!

Thank you,
-Alex C.
